Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

We are insured during construction for Public Liability and Damage for up to $20M. We also have to insure each project over $3300, by law, with QBCC Homeowner Insurance. We guarantee our finishing work for 12 months (tiling, painting, plaster etc)and for structural it is 6 years and 9months.

What do you like most about your job?

I love building.  My staff love their jobs working with clients from start to completion.  The way we work mostly is that one person works with you to achieve a scope, prices that scope, and should you accept the project price  manages the job to completion. We enjoy turning dreams to reality, establishing and maintaining trust and utilising the diverse experience available in our office to achieve a finish you'll enjoy.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Are you registered with QBCC? May I see your license? Do they have the right license class to undertake the work. Do you insure your works. They have to cover over $3300 unless over a three storey or Commercial proj.  What type of contract do you use? Do you have other work that you could show me?

I care about the outcome of the project. I want you to have the very best you can to improve your home, achieve value for money and love to live in your completed project. We will complete your project in a timely and profession manner. We always have contracts for projects so all is documented.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Typically we need to know budget, required finish, and quantities of materials. We do like to work with clients from the very beginning as with the experience we have we can offer suggestions and short circuit potential construction and design flaws during design and before drawings are completed.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

1/ Consider carefully what it is you wish to achieve before you set off.  2/ Consider your budget before we/the builder come to see you. How much do you want to spend on your project, how much can you secure.....and are you over capitalising? (do you care) 3/ Only get three quotes. More than that I can assure you you will be left high and dry as a good builder won't waste his time. One has made the motivation crystal clear. Cheap is not excellent.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We try very hard to keep the prices real. We quote our best prices for quality. There may be cheaper prices but we consider, that we give the best we can for the prices quoted. We live in this area, I have lived here all my life, we will continue to live in this area and we want to be able to walk down the street knowing we have done our best for our clients.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Mostly fixed price quotes. On occasion we do cost plus.  This of course is only if there is no reasonable way to price a quote. For commercial we have done maximum price contracts which can work out quiet lucrative fro both my company and the client.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

We specialise in custom builds on elevated and/or difficult shaped blocks. That means that anything less than that is well within our scope of ability. In 2018 we won Best Home $1.26 - 2M and Master Builders 2018 Best Residential Bathroom.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

Trevor is a registered HIA Greensmart Professional and has 40 years in Construction. Trevor is the licensee and registered with Australian Building Sustainable Assessors ABSA. Lisa has completed a Cert IV in Kitchens, Bathrooms and Interior Design Vernon is a very capable and insightful Builder with 27 years experience. Ryan is an awesome apprentice.  Our subcontractors are professional and care. Most have worked with us for years.
