• How did you decide to get into your line of work?

  Three generations in the construction industry sees Ted Larson continue a long family history in Design and Construction. Ted’s Grandfather Bill and his brother Jack, formed Larson Brothers Contractors in Mackay around 1918 and built the first Mobile Crane in Australia called “Big Bertha”. A steam driven mobile winch that could lift and carry some 2 tons!! Following studies as an Architectural Technician and becoming a licensed Building Designer he then formed Southern Cross Design and Drafting in 2001. The company grew to be one of the most successful design firms on the Sunshine Coast. “We’ve completed hundreds of projects in all corners of Australia from Proserpine to Port Hedland and in 2011 one of our designs was awarded House of The Year Master Builders award in The Darling Downs Region.”
