      Job Description: Scope of Work Concreting and Rainwater Drainage 1. Demolition and Site Clearance - Remove and dispose of approximately 125 m of existing brick paving. Bricks are currently laid over a coarse sand base, with some edge sections embedded in cement. Minor mechanical breaking will be required to remove the cemented edges. - All demolition waste, including bricks, cement, and sub-base material (if not reusable), must be removed from the site and disposed of. 2. Concrete base Preparation - Excavate the site to the specified depth required for each concrete section: o 100 mm for patio and footpath areas. o 200 mm for the driveway. o 200 mm along the edges of the patio/footpath for concrete edging. - Remove and dispose of all excess soil, sand, and debris off-site. - Supply and install compacted road base, gravel or sand where required, ensuring a stable and leveled concrete base. The existing brick base can be reused if considered suitable for new concrete work. - Compact the subgrade using appropriate tools or machinery to meet required compaction standards. - Cut into the existing kerb to create a smooth transition for the new driveway entrance, and rainwater pipe discharge to street. 3. Drainage System Installation - Excavate trenches according to drawing to accommodate new surface water drainage systems and the one from the house gutter at the back of house, including surface channels and PVC stormwater pipes. - Supply and install surface drainage channels as per layout and connect to new 90 mm PVC piping (Set 1). - Supply new 90 mm PVC piping (Set 2) and connect to the existing house down pipe at the back of the yard. - Cut into the street kerb and install two (2) PVC stormwater outlets for direct discharge into the council stormwater system. - Ensure all drainage works are compliant with local council stormwater design requirements and gradients support effective water runoff. 4. Formwork and Steel Reinforcement - Construct timber formwork to define all concrete edges and levels. o 100 mm concrete thickness for patio and footpath areas. o 200 mm concrete thickness for driveway areas. - Install steel reinforcement mesh on bar chairs as follows: o SL72 steel mesh for patio and footpath areas. o SL92 steel mesh for the driveway. - All reinforcement must be adequately supported (e.g., using 120 mm bar chairs for driveway and 60mm for footpath/patio) to maintain correct positioning during the concrete pour. 5. Concrete Supply and Pouring o Expansion joints to be implemented where necessary o All sections of the concrete pour must be adequately vibrated, especially around reinforcement, framework edges and all tight and congested areas. Patio and Footpath Areas: o Pour approximately 15 m of 25 MPa concrete over 150 m at 100 mm thickness. o Concrete to be broom finished to a smooth, level surface suitable for future tiling. Driveway Area: o Pour approximately 14 m of 32 MPa concrete over 70 m at 200 mm thickness. o Surface to be broom shaped to ensure proper rainwater runoff to the street. 6. Expansion Joints and Edge Treatments - Supply and install Ableflex expansion joint along all building walls and downpipes. - Ensure clean and neat joint finishes for movement tolerance. 7. Site Cleanup Upon completion of the concrete works: o Remove all tools, excess materials, formwork, off-cuts, and waste from the site. o Dispose of all construction debris appropriately. o Leave the site in a clean, safe, and presentable condition. ________________________________________ Additional Requirements - The contractor is responsible for providing all labour, materials, equipment, and tools necessary to complete the work to a professional standard. - All work must be carried out continuously over consecutive working days. - The contractor must: o Comply with all relevant workplace health and safety regulations. o Adhere to all applicable local council and building regulations. o Hold valid and current public liability insurance, workers compensation, and any other insurance required by law. o Be registered with QBCC
