We have public liability and professional indemnity insurances for our projects.  Our preferred full service entails 3 stages of works, Design, Construction, Post Completion which allows us to control quality of the project from start to finish.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I grew up loving art, design, puzzles and building - funnily enough, Architecture encapsulates all these things and is a rewarding career in many ways.  My favourite stage of the project is watching the building skeleton come out of the ground.

We find a lot of customers happy to settle for a drafting service and they get what they pay for.  Ask your service provider how they provide more than the brief, do they have knowledge of the latest environmental and material systems, what are their qualifications and what have they built before.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

Why would I not use a drafting service as its half the price? An Architect studies for over 5 years at University, then an additional 2 years of experience and examinations are required to become a Registered Architect.  A draftsperson does a 1 year tafe course to learn basic drafting methods and skills.    Most houses and renovations these days are heading towards $500,000 which is one of the largest investments in most peoples lives.  Do you entrust that investment advice to the Accountant or the Bookkeeper, The Surgeon or the nurse? Architecture is not really about lines on paper, it is about finding and challenging solutions to get the best possible result for the project.

We are straight forward in our approach, design must meet the brief, budget and site requirements.  From there we can be innovative and clever to achieve the best outcome, but the basics must be met first.

We need a project brief, budget and location - these are then used to determine the scope of works required and what our fee will be for the project.  We can then provide a project specific proposal.

Have a clear brief idea of what your needs and desires are for the project. Understand your budget and limitations. Have existing site information available (existing plans or building information)

We don't compete on price, but are competitive within quality architectural services.  We offer a professional service which adds significant value to your project through quality design. Any monkey can draw, not everyone can design...

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

For full Architectural Services we usually charge a percentage of the total project construction cost.  This fee is based on a sliding scale from higher fee % for smaller projects to lower fee % for larger projects. We believe that our services result in project value that far exceed the fee cost and are happy to review project scope against client requirements to set appropriate fees.

We specialise in two areas - high quality bespoke residential design - custom commercial and mixed use developments.

As Registered Architects with over 17 years experience, we have worked across all facets of the design and construction industry from Residential Homes, Apartments and highrise to Commercial, Health, Education and public buildings.  Using our design, construction and project management experience, we focus on providing results that exceed the clients expectations.
