  The job was not properly finished according to the original quote: 1. Sludge from the gutters around the house + off cuts and spent rivets etc. were left after the first day. As the men did not return until several days later, I cleaned it up myself (2h work!), before rain would have turned it into an ugly mess. 2. Sludge from the gutters is still on the sections of roofs on first floor extensions. The workers said that it would be removed with a blower, but this has not happened. 3. Windows on the second floor were not all cleaned as agreed.. 4. The incorrect width of downpipes had been ordered. This was corrected where the difference in width was too obvious. Undoing and redoing the brackets on the pipes has caused unsightly holes and scars in the bricks (could have been done with more care). 5. Repointing of the end tiles (ridge caps), as quoted, has not happened. On the positive side, the quality of the guttering work was good. Communication on details of the work and when it would take place were poor, however. I emailed these comments to Smittys and have received no reaction yet (after 2 days). Smittys claim they are a bit more expensive than others, but offer more quality. I disagree and strongly feel I have definitely paid too much and certainly would not use Smittys again.
