Dons Backyard Dezigns has business insurance for public liability through AAMI insurance. We do guarantee works which involve construction (such as decking).

Common questions asked are:  What can you do? (no job too small!)  What is my availability? What is involved to do....... Sometimes jobs such as putting up a garden shed may not just be putting it together, but clearing a garden bed, pouring concrete, putting up the shed and then setting it up for a client with their tools. All part of the job! What is your hourly rate? (not always applicable),  What is my experience?

I pride myself on operating an ethical and respectful business and I am fully cognizant of the importance of delivering excellent customer service to my clients - it is nothing less than I deserve in my life! As the father of two boys I am a role model to them, and operate my business openly and honestly.

We provide a high level of professionalism and take time to understand our customers' needs.  Our customers' satisfaction is our driving force and to this end provide prompt, competitive and friendly service.

Things necessary to know before starting a job are: 1. What the job entails - ie how big is the space we are working on? 3.What is the outcome the client is looking for? 5. What time frame would the client like the job completed - ie for Christmas Day?

Customers can save money by the following: 1.Providing a full description of their needs and desired outcomes to me 2.Ensure any site issues are communicated to allow this to be included in our work schedule 3.It does help to communicate if there are budget concerns, to allow me to give the best possible solution to meet a clients needs.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Because I have smaller overheads than the larger providers, I can be more flexible and responsive to customer needs.  Given a chance to quote I am regularly be the best value for money.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Maintenance projects of a smaller nature can be quoted with an estimate or an hourly rate.   Larger projects, particularly those requiring design, will require a site inspection and discussion with the client to fully understand their vision, and the desired outcome they are looking for. Quotes of course are free!

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I really enjoy projects which give me the opportunity to help the owner enjoy their garden! For instance I have done many jobs for people who's back yards were literally a yard and not a space to sit and enjoy the beauty.  These jobs aren't necessarily expensive, but I have the opportunity to be creative and improve the quality of their life and make these gardens usable again.   I particularly enjoy recycling existing items and products from the garden, really cleaning up an area for the before and after affect. Focusing on utilising colour, textures and contrast for maximum effect.

Dons Backyard Dezigns has been operating for over 5 years and regularly designs and creates landscaping projects,as well as a myriad of miscellaneous garden work!  I specialise in small to medium projects.  My training is in garden design and application and I am mid way through a degree in horticulture management.
