How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I used to have a 9 to 5 office job. In July 2007 I had serious health scare that prompted me to take a look at what line of work I would be happiest in. I decided to seek a job that would involve me being outdoors in the fresh air and being paid to keep fit by working in a physical occupation.

I treat the relationship I have with my clients as confidential. Anything that happens or is said whilst I'm being to paid to work on their property remains between me & them. Having said that, there are stories that come to mind that I'd love to share & may do so in the future if the clients agree.

Being outdoors. Meeting new and interesting people. Going way beyond my customers expectations in terms of the quality and standard of work.

Many. For example - what equipment will you be using to mow my lawn? Will you be using a dedicated three wheel edger to do the edges or just turning your whipper snipper upside down? Do you have a cylinder mower? Can you provide vertimowing, weed control and fertilising services? Can you look after the rest of my garden e.g. roses, hedges etc.

One thing I never want to experience is an unhappy customer. I will go out of my way to ensure that doesn't occur.

I pride myself on a meticulous attention to detail. I will not leave the job until I'm happy with how everything looks. In doing so I often provide little unpaid extras for my clients.

If I'm quoting sight unseen, I'd need to know the size of lawn for mowing or vertimowing. You can work it out yourself by using the www.findlotsize.com website. Also how long the lawn is. The type of lawn, for weed control & fertilising.

Removing obstacles like vehicles, trailers, caravans, play equipment etc from areas that are to be mowed saves me time and saves you money.

In my business I have two over arching objectives - (a) to provide a very high standard of service and (b) to provide that service at the lowest price I can, whilst still remaining profitable. I know if I focus on those two things I will make my customers happy and earn their repeat business.

How do you normally charge for your service?

I normally charge a flat fee based on the type of service and taking into consideration how long the job should take. I don't charge an hourly rate. That way if a particular job takes a little longer than expected the customer isn't out of pocket.

I'm proficient in all the types of service I provide. If I wasn't proficient and sufficiently experienced in a particular type of service, I wouldn't offer it.

Years of experience in all aspects of lawn & garden care. Lawn mowing, edging, vertimowing, coring/aerating, hedge trimming, weeding, mulching, tree lopping (including stump grinding or removal), rose pruning, gutter cleaning, reticulation and paving repair.
