Location: Rozelle, NSWJob Description: At the back-fence of our property is a large European Tree, getting old and partly dying off from the injured bark rubbing on the fence. The first picture gives only view of half of the tree. The damage to the bark stemming from the recession of the phloem is shown on the next two pictures. In the recent past two bigger branches were blown down by winds that got enough resistance after having grown some new leaves. It made some minor damage to the garden. I want to avoid that bigger damage is done by accidental wind-pruning. The small remedial incisions would mean to cut off just under the shown damage. A more major operation would remove the whole half of the tree at the point of contact with the fence (just left, outside the first photo). There is one branch from the healthy half growing over the neighbours tree (on the very left, not depicted; easy enough to reach that I would have done in younger years) that is wished for being removed, and it is easier to cut back as part of a pruning exercise (which is otherwise very challenging). There is no access for cars. It would mean to climb the tree up to heights of 15 meters. There is as well the task of getting the heavy parts down without damage to the neighbours (and our own) property. Please would you advise me, how I could proceed and the cost of the different tasks!?
