Job Description: Long haired calico we have had since Feb just under 2 years. She tolerates brushing on her head, back and sides for a little while but meows when I attempt to get her belly. I think its best a professional does a sanitary cut around her back legs to keep her fur from matting while I try and get her used to the brush. She is NOT matted apart from a small on on her ear. I am trying to get ahead of the matting before it happens while still maintaining her trust. I do have Gabepentine that I am happy to administer. She is vocal and will bat but I have never been bitten and she has never used claws. She has strong boundaries that I respect. Her nails do need to be cut as well as she does not like to be held to cut them. She is unbelievably placid for the vet however and allowed the cutting without issue. I believe that she will be okay to be groomed but I am reluctant to push her myself and break her trust as shes only been with me for less than a year.
