I had a truly terrible experience with ToeCon. I complained to the QBCC, whose investigation found two alleged breaches against ToeCon: S.68B(2) - Failure to provide Home Warranty Insurance, despite payment. Schedule 1B, S.33 - Excessive Deposit Demands. My personal experience involved paying an initial deposit of $9,800 for a $26,000 contract, followed by further payments totalling $11,750 (including claimed Home Warranty Insurance). Work never started, and the insurance remained unpaid. Tom then tried to alter the Scope of Works and demanded an additional $5,000. When I refused, he rejected the job and kept my entire $11,750, claiming compensation even though no work was done and no materials were delivered. I am now with QCAT to get my full refund of $11,750.
