Accepted Answer

Yes I do have public liability insurance that is kept up to date and I have a full service guarantee for all to see on my website.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I was invited to a wedding and the celebrant let the couple down so completely I thought I would be able to deliver a much more caring and professional service so I found out a bit more about being a celebrant and now really love the work.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

Accepted Answer

I would not call this my favourite story but most recent Bride Rescue. During the signing the most unfortunate thing happened to my bride, it was an outside wedding and when she was sitting down underneath a tree to sign a bird pooped on her lapp! EEEEK and I mean really badly! I swung into action, I told the bridesmaids what was going on and that we need to quietly without fuss sort this out. Then with my trusty emergency kit with safety pines we managed to hide the offending mess without anyone catching on.Thats is what a good celebrant does, take care of EVERYTHING!

What do you like most about your job?

I love meeting people from all cultures and that very couple is unique, the happy occasion that weddings are, the stunning locations I get to work at and I'm being honest here the glass champagne at the end of a fabulous wedding ceremony!

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Are the fees all inclusive. How many weddings have you conducted ( I have done 100's) How long have you been a celebrant, what did you do before being a celebrant. Celebrant work suits people who are used to being in the public eye and can assume authority when need but not be too much of a bossy boots.

Where do e start organising a wedding   Answer . You need a location and the celebrant then everything else can be built around that , unless you have your heart set on a particular photographer then start with them.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

I seem to have an inbuilt punctuality!! I have never EVER been late for any of the 100's of wedding I have conducted + by nature I am an honest person. If I make a mistake I find the best thing to do is apologise and fix things as quickly as possible. I can honestly say I have never EVER spoken the names of any of my couple incorrectly and that is something I have heard celebrant horror stories about!

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

A celebrant's role is one of high trust and the most important aspects in a wedding ceremony to me is to look after the couple. Firstly getting the paperwork 100% in order, then writing a ceremony that is focused on the couple to being present in the ceremony, making sure all names are correct and well pronounced properly as  well as taking care of the couple  socially & emotionally on the day. By that I mean treating your guests in a friendly and inclusive manner, delivering an inspiring and upbeat ceremony and knowing what do do when the bride cries ( and sometimes the groom too).

Date, Time, Location and guest list size, all have a bearing on how much I will quote

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

Choosing a location, really shop around, different councils have  a range of prices for locations if your going for an outdoor ceremony. Or have the wedding and reception in the same place. Limit the guest list( I know that is hard but you can have a few rounds of invitations, first round is people you HAVE to invite, if you can get a few clear No's from distant relatives then you can use that invite on friend you would love to invite). If the customer is willing to provide their own tables and chairs I will factor that into my quote.

What makes your pricing competitive?

I give excellent value for the service offered as I always go the extra mile to look after my couples, with advice writing a great ceremony, spending time with the couple and working with all the other verdure as a team to ensure your wedding day is a great success.

How do you normally charge for your service?

My fees are between $390 for a mid week budget elopement to $700 for a large and intricate wedding with location parking costs Etc

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I am known as somewhat of an alternative celebrant who is up for just about anything and have an extensive wardrobe alot of which I design and make myself so I can cover a lot of different looks. From traditional white wedding to alternative, Vintage, Steampunk ,Gothic  having conducted 100s of weddings I've just about done it all except nude which is never gonna happen!

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

All celebrants need to be accredited by the Attorney General's dept and it's really what we bring from our previous carreers that make an excellent celebrant. I bring a lifetimes skills as a performer, designer and business owner to this role ensuring a smooth flow of events on your wedding day. The performer in me is relaxed and assured in front of an audience ( the last thing you need is a nervous celebrant!) The fashion designer in me is interested in the overall look of your wedding and I like to compliment the bridal party and the business owner in me keeps the paperwork in order!
