We are fully insured with GIO, and we have a current public liability and products liability insurance policy. This covers us for anything up to the amount of $5,000,000.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I come from a background of management and training. I was asked to manage a carpet cleaning business, this included training the carpet cleaners. But I found it so satisfying cleaning the carpet that I thought as long as you have an eye for detail, are thorough, and have good time management, a carpet cleaning business was relatively simple to run compared to what I was previously used to managing. So my wife and I decided to open up our own, and we never looked back.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

We have a customer who is a lovely lady in Floraville that we revisit every year before Christmas to clean all her carpet in the house. Upon arrival we usually have a cup of tea or coffee together and give each other a rundown of what's been happening since we saw each other last. A couple of years ago she gave us a BIG laugh!  When I finished my cup of coffee I found something at the bottom of the cup and upon closer inspection it turned out to be a little fake poo, made out of plastic! Both me and my wife cracked up laughing and the customer (at first in shock and very embarrassed) soon joined in the laughing and she exclaimed "How did THAT get there???" The only explanation she could think of was that the grandkids must have put the poo in the cup when they were visiting to play a trick on her, and we were glad they did :)

What do you like most about your job?

The satisfaction I get from seeing something dirty turn into something clean and the look of the customer's faces when they are shocked that we got the stain out that they thought would be impossible to get out. The other thing that we really enjoy about our job is that we get to meet a lot of different people, from many different walks of life.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

How long does it take to do the clean? It really depends on the size of the job and the number of stains.   How long does the carpet/lounge etc. take to dry? It depends entirely on the weather, it could take as little as 30 minutes or a few hours. We usually put the fans or A/C on or open up the windows for airflow which really speeds up the drying time.   Do you move furniture? We are happy to move furniture for you and just ask that you would pick up the little things for us (e.g. toys, magazines, pet accessories). Some customers prefer for certain items not to be moved, (e.g. the entertainment system or a display cabinet) and if that's the case, we are able to go around things as well.   How can we pay you? With cash, cheque or via online banking.   If you clean the mattress how long will it take before i can use it again? When cleaning a mattress the last thing you want to do is wet it, because a mattress contains a huge amount of dead skin which if mixed with water turns to a paste which is not a good idea! So instead we have a machine that vibrates deep enough to thoroughly remove all the skin and dust from the mattress leaving it clean and ready to use immediately.

Unlike many businesses, with us you won't find any fine print, everything is clearly explained upfront as to avoid any misunderstandings. We have been cleaning carpet and upholstery for 15 years (that's thousands of carpets and lounges that we have personally cleaned!)  In that time we've made a lot of people happy and made some long term friends. If you google "Simon's Carpet Care, you'll find that we are frequently rated 5* and have good reviews across different online platforms.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

For carpet cleans, we need to know the number of rooms and if there are any stairs or hallways to give an accurate quote.  For upholstery, just add up the number of seats on the lounge eg. a 5 seater lounge (this doesn't mean, how many cushions, but how many people would comfortably fit on the lounge)

If you book a carpet and lounge combo, or pair your carpet clean with extras like rugs, mattresses, dining chairs, bed heads or bed frames, we’ll give you a discount. It’s a great way to get more done in one visit - and save a bit while you’re at it.
