My business is insured for public liability up to $10 million. Also since i use dulux and to their specifications there is a warranty included

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My father used to be a plasterer in the UK and i guess i learnt a few things from him. Since i wanted to live in Australia i decided that going through courses here would give me a better insight to how things are done here compared to the UK (and get better weather here also!)

I have done many jobs for all kinds of people, and many of my next customers come from previous customers passing on my details. I find this very rewarding as it shows that i am doing a great job and friends are trusting me to changed someone else`s house into a new look

I enjoy transforming the look of a tired old run down house. After a few days of hard work and keeping things clean, then it is like a brand new house again.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

How long does it take. If it is a large job and the tradesman says 1 or 2 days, then its probably not going to be the best finish he can give. Ask for previous work and speak (with permission) of prior works done

Commonly get asked for a "flat finish" on their homes. The vast majority of work is the "Sand Finish". This is when the brickwork is no longer visible, flat level wall and it is left with a `sand paper` feel to it. It is then required to be painted (or potentially using a different finish)

Since i am generally working by myself, my business` reputation is on me and me alone. If there was an issue, it is down to me to resolve. Punctuality is highly important, along with clean profession work

I am a small company and i believe in quality over quantity. Im not in it to make a quick buck and move on to the next house. I take my time and get the job done to a higher standard than many others. A great job is never rushed

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Need to know the address, the type of brickwork, amount of obstructions (air con units etc). Accessibility to site, single or 2 story. What kind of finish they require. Several things are required for an accurate quote.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Customer can help by removing as many obstructions as possible, allowing me to come in and begin work immediately . In finishing the work, the client can always paint the render themselves which will save them money. Be flexible in moving dates that would suit both parties

Even though i have been working in the industry for years, this is my first time working for my own company, so therefore i am doing slightly cheaper than normal prices until my business picks up

Because i am generally working on my own, i am not competing with large companies that need to turn over as many houses as possible. Quality beats quantity every time

I charge each job on its own situations. If its a simple flat wall then it would be cheaper compared to poor brickwork with lots of obstructions and so forth.

I specialise in all aspects of rendering (solid plastering). I do work from patch up jobs through to large houses in top of the range finishing.

I have several years of experience which initially started in the UK. From there i went to WA and got up to speed with new skills and techniques. Once being in WA fro 4 years, i then moved over to QLD where again, picked up new skills and now set up business here.
