We have $10M Professional Indemnity cover, $20Million Public Liability Cover and have Workers Compensation for all employees. On those occasions when we have been requested to engage other specialist, we ensure that such specialist have the appropriate insurance cover.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

After 26 years providing solutions for my institutional property management employers, I decided to avail myself to others. By responding to customer requests I then became focused upon the specialist areas we now are engaged for.

It actually came from someone attending the AMCA fire & smoke damper certifier course. We heard the statement from someone who had been installing fire dampers for over 30-years "Oh No - So that's the way I should have been doing it!"

Show me your current CoC for Professional Indemnity and Public Liability. Shown me a report pertaining to the engagement that is being offered. Show me a SWMS for such work.

Usually the questions that we are asked relate to the Building Code of Australia volume 1 and associated primary and secondary referenced Standards. We also provide reasoning why and sometimes examples as to why the interpretation that we promote is valid.

I own the business and have retained either the business or our reputation with every customer or supplier, we have had on our books since founding the company in 1998.

We are multi disciplined - we can conduct: fire safety assessments, inclusive of wet & dry system coverage, smoke hazard management, infrared thermographic survey with condition interpretation of plant & equipment, access for impaired survey, risk assessment for cooling towers & warm water systems,

A copy of the fire safety schedule, any alternate solution report and contact name and phone numbers for incumbent contractors.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Get your incumbent contractors to provide the appropriate performance records as soon as practicable within that 90-day requirement specified by the EP&AR and have evidence that any remediation has occurred or has been ordered to be remedied.  Have pertinent baseline data readily available for ref.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We find that our competition fails to have as broad multi-discipline expertise and the larger firms have significantly greater overheads to support. We are at the stage where we can be quite selective of our customers.

How do you normally charge for your service?

We invoice customers after delivery of a report. Terms are usually 21-days from presentation and outstanding has a 1%/month accruing finance charge. OOP expenses have 15% mark-up
