How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have always loved photography. My father is an avid photographer (the family paparazzi) and he gave me a point and shoot film camera as a kid. I used to see stunning photos and wish to take some of my own one day. That's still my drive and I guess you could say my hobby got out of hand from there.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I shoot a lot of commercial jobs which is very interesting but the rewarding stories are when I witness tears of joy as families see their photos. That aside, I have a great story about an octopus attack while shooting a glamour model by an ocean reef. I'll save that one for when we meet

I love everything about photography. I love shooting and I love passing on my wealth of knowledge to others. I love the colourful and amazing places it takes me and the awesome people that I meet along the way. I live and breathe photography and embrace it as life's gift

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Ask for information about the photographer's prior experience and to name some clients that they have worked with in the past. Ask them, point-blank, are you confident that you can do this shoot because I can't afford to mess this up.

How long do you think the photoshoot will take? Depending on the shoot, I ask to them how much time they have allocated and then ask questions about locations, wardrobe changes, external factors (weather, traffic) and then map out a schedule that is time efficient, yet comfortable and stress-free

I know my craft. I'm very passionate about it. I'm creative, friendly and efficient. I have the ability to build a fast rapport with my clients and models and understand that comfort and a positive experience is essential for everyone (including myself) for a successful photo shoot.

Factors which can affect the quote are: 1. Locations - where and how many 2. What sort of equipment is required (eg. special lighting, drones, rigging) 3. Is a second photographer (events) or an assistant (lighting) required 4. How much editing is required 5. RAW images cost more

1. Create a mood board or have a creative concept in mind. This way time isn't wasted talking about what you want. I'm happy to guide you if you aren't sure. 2. Clean and prepare the location so shooting can start immediately 3. Make sure that everyone is on time. Time is money, don't waste it

I don't and won't undercut prices in order to compete. For the calibre that I shoot and at my level of experience, please be assured that you are getting what you pay for and you are investing in quality and experience. I always ask that you see your projects as an asset, not just an expense.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

I always try to package my charges so that they are cost-efficient to my clients. I work to any hourly rate but can also do half-day and day rates. I will often package photography + editing time into a half or day rate to make the shoot more affordable and encourage repeat business.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Aside from the usual creative photography, I am also a technician in photographic lighting and calibration to ensure that you are getting the best possible and accurate output that can be achieved.

I have professional experience in Australia and Europe. I train people to become photographers and have worked across nearly ever genre in the industry. I was trained in the UK and have a studio in Sydney as well as run workshops and programs for Canon Australia.
