Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

Yes I am fully insured and have Public Liability Insurance.  Under the Marriage Act 1961, I am required by law to provide you with a Code Of Practice which absolutely guarantees my professionalism and duties as a Celebrant.  Honestly I would be horrified if you weren't happy with my service.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Being a Celebrant is something I have longed to do, but I was in the corporate world slogging my heart out when suddenly I got very ill with cancer for 5 years.  I firmly believe it took this life changing event to give me the proverible kick I needed to make me throw caution to the wind and go for it! One thing I learnt when I had cancer - Life is too short not to be doing what you REALLY want to do!    After my 'lightbulb' moment I vowed to get through all the horrible treatment and become a Celebrant which I'm proud to say I did in record time.   Hospitals can be boring but there's always an upside and being in hospital for so long gave me the perfect opportunity to study and do my assignments!!  I am so proud of being a Celebrant and I totally LUV it!  And it shows - because I am SO passionate about it, I guess that's what makes people say 'you were born for this!' as I'm just as enthusiastic about your wedding as you are!     I want your wedding to be so beautiful and meaningful to you both, I want your guests to feel a part of it and enjoy it too BUT most of all I want both of you to have treasured memories of your ceremony!

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I have so many treasured moments from the weddings I have performed, it's hard to pick just one!    I guess one that really stood out for me was when I married my cousin to the man of her dreams. They had been together for a little while and had a mixed family situation. We created a beautiful ceremony where not only did the parents say vows to each other, they also made vows to the chldren.  It was truly was beautiful and there wasn't a dry eye in the house!

What do you like most about your job?

Nothing beats the joy of marrying a couple!  I love it when I hear your story and share this with your family and friends on your wedding day!  The best part of my job is when I see your faces when I pronounce you 'husband and wife'!

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

1)  Are you available on this date? 2)  What does your fee include? 3)  Will you submit the legal paperwork? 4)  Can we speak to other couples you have married? 5)  What backup plan do you have if you are ill or unable to conduct the service at the last minute?

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

1)  Do you come and meet us?              Yes I offer initial free non-obligation meetings to see if you and your fiancee 'click' with me and are happy to proceed.    And I'm happy to travel - I go all over Victoria and do not charge you travel.  2)  Are there any other charges? No.  My fee is ALL INCLUSIVE.   No hidden extra's.     And I don't charge Travel!

I believe my personal ethics and the fact that I treat your wedding like I would my own makes me the most trustworthy person for the role.  I am understand and acknowledge that I have a huge responsibility for your wedding day and I will do my utmost to ensure you are happy! I think it also helps, I've been a wedding tragic since childhood too!

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I am completely dedicated to you as my client and I consider it a great honour to conduct your wedding.  Unlike others, I only perform ONE wedding on the one day - YOURS!    No rushing off to another venue! I believe in being there for you ALL day and I make a point of ringing both of you on the day to check how you are.  I will go to extraordinary lengths to ensure you are 100% happy with my service and I treat your wedding, like I would treat my own.  Your day is SO important to me, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

It's very helpful for celebrants if you have decided on the following: 1)  Date, Venue & Style Please remember you need at LEAST ONE MONTH prior to the wedding to fill in the legal paperwork - this is the minimum LEGAL REQUIREMENT. It's not like TV - you can't just get up and married!!!

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1)   Be organised - have a list of everything you need to do, set up an Excel spreadsheet to track your expenses and bookings. 2)   Try DIY - many brides find they can save lots of $$ by creating decorations etc themselves. 3)   Look at Pinterest and Google for ideas for your wedding

All my Wedding / Committment Ceremony clients will receive something special from me, however Oneflare customers will also receive a free baby naming ceremony (travel will be charged however) for when the time comes!

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

When choosing a celebrant, it's vital you select a celebrant you click with. Don't choose on price alone !!   This is after all, the person who is going to marry you!  You want to feel happy, comfortable and relaxed on the best day of your life and having someone you can really trust and relate to, performing the ceremony will help!     Having said that though, your budget is very important and I strive to keep my cost to the absolute minimum and I offer easy payment schemes.   But please do consider this when looking at my package :  I spend hours and hours working on your wedding script, you will receive several drafts. I NEVER copy a ceremony and just change the names - I personally HATE that and I think it's unethical.  You receive either a free ritual for your ceremony, or if you do not wish that, a gift from me for your wedding.  I donate 10% of my free to the Victorian Cancer Council in HONOR of your wedding. You receive a Certificate of Thanks and Letter of Appreciation from both the Vic Cancer Council and myself in acknowledgement.  I offer lots of little things that others don't, such as the loan of decorations for your ceremony.  I do not PERFORM more than ONE CEREMONY per day - I'm YOURS all day.  I do not charge Travel.  Remember there's an old saying that 'you pay peanuts, you get monkeys'. Sometimes, sadly this is true.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Depending on what you would like, time involved my average charge is in the range of $650 - $800.  However I believe in giving back and paying it forward, so I donate 10% of my fee to the Victorian Cancer Council in honor of your wedding.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

If given the opportunity, I absolutely ADORE weddings involving your pets - in fact I actively encourage it!  Your pets are also part of the family and if you want them in the wedding, then I'm your girl! I also LOVE doing weddings with particular themes and will dress accordingly!

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have completed Certificate IV in Celebrancy as well as other relevant Celebrant Qualifications.  I majored in English at school and I'm a trained public speaker. But most of all, it's my bubbly personality that people absolutely love and they are thrilled with the unique and creative ideas I have.
