How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I started Hairdressing at the age of 14 continued to do an apprenticeship. I then later went to be a Salon Manager at a Hairdressing Academy and wanted to do make up. I trained at Napoleon and went on to train students at the college after they had finished a client. So the client left looking amazing with just having her hair and make up done.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

A client called me after she had been to a shopping centre for a trial. She was not happy with the make up that they had done. By asking the right questions I found that the products they used were not for her skin type and eye shape. The client booked me for a trial and as I provide a client consultation form I noted down the products she should use whether she booked me or not. She was so happy with my help and make up application she hired me for her Wedding day.

What do you like most about your job?

I love seeing the before and after photos of all our clients. Making the client feel comfortable, consulting with the client for them to get best results and overall making them feel and look gorgeous.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

It is important a proper consultation is done at the trial or if you don't want a trial over the phone. I find a lot of customers call me and tell me that they were not happy with the make up trial they had with another make up artist and when I ask questions regarding what they did, they used the wrong make up or colours.

Usually a client gets so confused with which Make up or hair stylist to go with. (as there are so many competitors) its all about customer service and asking the right questions to get the best result. They often ask me will the make up last - Yes our make up lasts all day!! As mentioned - skin analysis is most important.

As I am focused on customer service I ensure that I contact my clients within 24 hours of sending a quote. If they book with me I also phone them to confirm and to discuss any questions they may have. I like to arrive early to set up and most of all honesty.

Usually we like to talk to the customer to get a feel for the look they are wanting to achieve. We like to find out what they are wearing (this helps with the neckline so we can create a hairstyle that suits the outfit) We like to know colours they are wearing to help with the make up application.

What makes your pricing competitive?

MMU prices are the best rate you will get for your service. There is a lot of competition out there but I have clients calling me saying they were not happy with the make up they had elsewhere. When I have gone through a couple of things with them - it was the consultation that they got wrong. You need to do a proper consultation for skin type, facial type to get the best results. Our prices are the best price as it includes a call out fee.

How do you normally charge for your service?

All MMU bookings we require a deposit and the deposit is not refundable. You can pay by direct deposit & the balance is to paid on the day of your service.

Working in a salon from the age of 14 and going on to a hairdressing apprenticeship and then later as a Salon Manager at a International Hairdressing Academy. I trained students on make up application and completed a certificate at Napoleon Perdis Make up Academy. I opened my own business in 2007 and it is growing bigger and better.
