  I’m sharing my experience in the hope that no one else has to go through something similar, especially on such an important day. Unfortunately, my experience with this celebrant left me feeling very vulnerable and uncomfortable. During our interactions, she made dismissive and disrespectful remarks about the LGBTQ+ community, without any awareness or sensitivity to the fact that my partner and I may have family or close friends who are part of that community. That was honestly very upsetting. When I raised my concerns about her lack of professionalism, things only got worse. Instead of addressing them respectfully, I was met with insults, including comments suggesting that my marriage wouldn’t last. This was incredibly hurtful and completely inappropriate, especially coming from someone whose role is meant to be centered around love, respect, and support. She also refused to refund the deposit, claiming it was due to “her policies,” and even shared content from other celebrants’ websites to justify her position. This was very concerning, as it seemed like she was using other people’s information as her own, which doesn’t feel professional or appropriate. I’m sharing this because a wedding is such a meaningful and special occasion, and the celebrant plays a fundamental role in that experience. It should be someone who promotes love and inclusivity, not someone who creates distress or behaves in a disrespectful and unprofessional way.
