Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

Insured for public liability and professional indemnity insurance.  All contractors used must be insured prior to allowing them on the job so respective works are covered by their individual insurances and guarantees.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have always had a desire to worked in art and design and the natural progression from art school to interior architecture, design and decorating was a natural progression. The many years of experience in these areas coupled with my life experience of growing a family have given me a clear insight into everyday problems that clients face or will face and how to best anticipate and resolve them.

Most all customers have a unique and more common problem to resolve when they contact me. I find that with each job I gain more insight and experience into human nature and how to accommodate the sometimes diverse but often more common issues that hinder living within our homes comfortably and harmoniously.

Meeting the needs of my clients by seeing the initial design go from an idea to a finished projects which is then appreciated and enjoyed by the clients and their families.

How can I better use this space? I need more storage space?  Let's look at how you use these rooms and move the furniture to best suit this. I can help by putting in storage in these areas as well as reorganise and remove excess items. Once we have completed this the true amount of storage space required is evident and we plan this in the build.

It is my business and my name that I am proud and protective of, so all works that I am supervising are through my network of trusted trades.  Where clients use other trades through other contacts I would advise they make their own enquiries to feel certain of the legitimacy and professionalism of the business or company.

I listen to the client and consider their style and taste rather than imposing my own or the latest fashion. I am very good at thinking laterally to resolve a design issue that will work for clients and their family.

Site visit is always best to assess the job. Scope of works and level of finish as well as time frame and budget. After meeting the client and discussing the overall concept I can better assess the costing of the job.

Clearly define the job required. Understand the budget constraints you have and be clear with these. Take time at the design stage as this is where you can resolve many problems which saves money in the build.

I have an offer for one flare customers that is if you book an initial consultation where the first hour @$160 p/hr and subsequent onsite hours are 120.00. The offer is a flat $120.00 per hour for onsite visits of more than one hour. Studio hours are @ $96.00 per hour. What makes your pricing competitive?

My pricing is competitive with industry standards and is what is commensurate with my level of study expertise and experience. I often charge as an hourly rate for work this way you are always aware of the time spent on a job.

Initial consultation of 1 hour is $160 for first hour then $120.00 for each subsequent hour or portion of. Onsite hours $160 per hour for first hour then $120 subsequent hour/s. Studio time $96.00 per hours.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I am able to work in all aspects of design and have close associations with specialists to support all these design areas. I work as a stylist for photo shoots and work with an accomplished photographer. For Interior Design work I have associates in architecture and engineering who I work with when I require structural changes to interior design works. In regard to interior design and decoration I have associations with trades in various areas that I trust and understand my required level of finish and detailing.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have a postgraduate UNSW in art and design and have worked both as an art practioner and interior designer for many years. I am able to work with any aspect of designing to resolve problems and create perfect environments for the client.
