Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Yes I am insured, registered with the Attorney General, a JP(Qual) and keep up with all the updates to the Marriage Act 1961 and keep up with Professional Development every 12 months.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I went to a friend's wedding on a rural property and was camping beside the Celebrant.  We had a bit of a chat and he said to me that I would be a good Celebrant. Went home did a bit of research and decided it was what I wanted to be.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I had the great pleasure of marrying a couple in their 60s and they wanted to get married at a special time as their astrologer had given it to them. So on 03/05/2014 at 11.30pm I officiated an intimate ceremony at their home. It was very memorable.

What do you like most about your job?

That I am helping make happy memories for the couple and their families.  That each couple walks away from my office and their ceremony completely satisfied.

Do I feel comfortable with the Celebrant? Are they going to give me the type of memories that I will cherish? Can they provide me with the answers to all my questions?

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

What is the first step? You need to meet with your chosen Celebrant to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage Form no longer than 18 months prior and no less than 1 month prior to the ceremony. Bring original birth certificates, photo id (eg driver's licence) if married before, divorce papers.

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

Although I haven't been a Celebrant as long as some I am quite confident that I have given my all to each and every couple that I have officiated for.  I am approachable and will help in any way I can to relieve the stress on the couple.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

I like to know both the bride and grooms name, a more specific time of day, a more specific location for the ceremony. Everything else can be discussed at the initial meeting.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Accepted Answer

Do a payment plan. Purchase any materials for a ritual yourself. Have the wedding a another special event. (eg. engagement party, birthday party)

A ceremony tailored for the couple with all the trimmings. As many meetings as is required. Advice on other suppliers.  Checklists to help with your planning.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

A standard fee with most inclusions.  If there is a great deal of travel this will be added on and if I am required to include a ritual (eg. sand ceremony, love lock ceremony, hand fasting ceremony) and need to purchase some materials this will also be added on unless purchased by the couple.

Helping make your special day as stress free as possible, while making it memorable. Tailoring the ceremony to each individual couple.

I am a licenced CMC and keep up to date with Professional Development every year. I am also a JP(Qual).
