Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Accepted Answer

I certainly have public liability insurance, covering me up to $10m of damage.  I think this should be compulsory, but that's my opinion.  I guarantee my work for 12 months.  I pride myself on what I do, and the materials that I use.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Working in a Northern suburbs automotive factory, the work was extremely repetitive with sometimes poor rotation.  I need to keep my mind going, so I started this business, to stop my brain become mushy.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the interaction with people, and working with electricity.  I have had a certain something for this amazing form of energy since I was four years of age.  I love working with it, and making it work for you and me.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

If the person that the customer is talking to, has the qualifications and is confident with working with or on a particular device or system.  And if not, if they know any tradesperson that can help.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I am a one man show, so you don't deal with employees to whom think "this is just a job".  You as the customer don't have to contribute to any franchise fees, and when you call me, you get me - not a person behind a desk.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Move any furniture that might be in the way of the job.   2. In a fault finding situation, turn off AND unplug every appliance you can.  I will help you with the larger ones. 3. Ensure the best way you can, that any appliance or device that I am to install, is complete and not damaged.

I do run specials of the month, and because they vary, you should certainly ask me and I will let you know what the special is, and what I can do for you.  I try to help as much as I can.

What makes your pricing competitive?

Accepted Answer

There are no franchise fees, nor employees, nor a large fleet of vehicles that you have to contribute to.  I don't and never have charged any call out fees.  I only start the clock when I start the job.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

On weekdays, I normally charge a rate of $88/hr, inclusive of GST.  I do charge a minimum of 1 hour, and I only charge in 5 minute increments.  So there is no hour by hour charge, because that's not fair.  And of course, there are no call out fees.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Fault finding, repairs to appliances, switchboard upgrades, inspections (including solar systems), testing of appliances, appliance servicing, new circuit installations and the like.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

Accepted Answer

I have been qualified since 1997, and have been running my business since 2006.  I have experience in the fields of electronics, refrigeration and fault finding.
