Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

We have full indemnity insurance cover - public and product liability $5000,000 that we have never had to use in over 30 years of trading.  Terms and conditions of our labour warranty: Our labour warranty covers our supplied products only, should you purchase parts or products on your own you will not be covered for Alba Aus labour warranty and would have to refer to the supplier you purchased your parts or products from to claim any warranty. Alba Aus will never install second hand parts or products at anytime.  Warranty does not apply where:  • Products have been installed or tampered with by others. • Repairs have been made by others. • Repairs are required due to normal (or excessive) wear and tear. • Damage is caused through misuse, abuse or neglect. • Clogs or back-ups due to improperly disposed items. • All warranties are void if payment is not made when due. • Warranties extend only to the customer and are not transferable.  Plumbing and gas fitting service, repair, installation and parts warranty:  We have a 30 day warranty on our labour for plumbing and gas works terms and conditions apply above.  Plumbing and gas fitting manufacturers warranty: Manufacturers warranty can vary between manufacturers and does not include Alba Aus labour warranty after the 30 day labour warranty.  Examples: New bathroom clearance products 12 months New bathroom products 7 to 30 years.  New water heater manufacturers warranty can range between 2-5 years.  We always recommend using quality approved products and discussing your options with Steve our plumber/gas fitter before choosing your products. It is the home owner or landlords responsibility to inform Alba Aus within 30 days of any defects to be covered for our labour warranty.   Alba Aus warranty would expire on day 31 any works required after this point would be invoiced accordingly any disputes after this point would require the customer to refer to the manufacturer.  We always aim to ensure our customers never have to look back on works carried out with Alba Aus unless it is to recommend our services and to date have never had any disputes or claims against out workmanship, we always go that extra mile to ensure we support out customers through any snagging issues.   Air conditioning labour and manufacturers warranty:  At Alba Aus, we are so confident in our abilities to provide you with the best possible air conditioning installation, repairs, and service that we will provide you with a 12-month installation warranty on any installation job that we complete.  Air conditioning units are covered underneath the manufacturer’s warranty underneath the Parts and Labour warranty section, which covers the repair and replacement of the component parts of any air conditioning systems purchased under the warranty. These parts may include the compressor, PC boards, fan motors, to name a few examples. However, be advised that the Parts and Labour warranty does not cover issues related to the maintenance of air conditioning systems – these include issues such as the cleaning of filters, unblocking of drains, loosened electric connections, or corrosion of the system or its component parts that may lead to malfunction.  All installations carried out by Alba Aus are provided with a 12-month Alba Aus Installation labour Warranty, which services to cover you in the event of an installation defect. Please note that all defects related to your air conditioning equipment are covered not by the Alba Aus installation warranty but by the manufacturer’s warranty of the air conditioning unit that you have purchased. Also note that neither of these warranties will cover issues related to the maintenance of an air conditioning system, and that they will not cover issues that have arisen due to a lack of maintenance on an air conditioning system or its component parts.  Other warranties may be available depending on the type of air conditioning system that you have purchased or that you are intending to purchase. As you set out to work with the Alba Aus to locate and purchase the air conditioning system that you have chosen for your residential or commercial space, our technician Steve will be ready to assist you in understanding the exact warranty that you have been provided and additional warranty options. How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Where i come from you do not decide what line of work to get into, In my case i was very lucky to be given the chance to train as a four year plumbing and gas fitting apprenticeship and even luckier to be offered a second three year apprenticeship in air conditioning and refrigeration after I completed my plumbing apprenticeship with continued exposure to plumbing and gas works while I completed my second apprenticeship.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

I was called out to an elderly gentlemen one day who had a problems with his central heating boiler, he advised he had already had a company out and provided the receipt of around $300 ($180.00 pounds) for call out to repair the system, to cut a long story short I fixed the problem and walked away with a proud hand shake that I had helped some one who had just been ripped off. This was a sad reality of how some trades people operate...

Have always been a believer in "if it puts bread in your mouth make sure you are good at it" as plumbing is a relatively difficult job due to it changing every day, as you get better at it you get to like it...

1. Licence number a must. 2. Be clear on the service you require and what you expectation Ask for a variation in options to support there situation (Quick fix cheaper option) or (long term investment option) 3. Can you show me some of your work port folio. 4. What value of indemnity insurance cover to they have. 5. Method statement (how will you carry the work out) and risk assessment question ( what are the risk to me, my children, my pets, my home, my neighbors) It is always good to know the tradie has the experience they say they have. 6. If you then feel confident with the feedback then ask for a visit to discus what is required to ensure both parties have a clear understanding of what is required for a quote.

1. Depending on the type of work being carried out the most common question would be cost, it's the top question and what is included in the cost.  2. When can you come? 3. How long will the job take? 4. Is your work covered with warranty/insurance (always)  5. And many customers will then ask if the job can be done cheaper (we will always review our quotes on request)

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I worked for global blue chip companies over a period of 15 years before becoming an Employer myself in 1997 = 2010, I then downsized to a sole trader there for I consider myself to be well groomed in the fields I operate in, if you have a large job to be carried out then a larger company would be a better option for you or I could oversee the project as an alternative, if you have small to medium works required then I do recommend meeting or calling myself or Marie for a chat to review the services we offer. Using Alba Aus will prove to be less costly to larger companies as we don't have their overheads but have the expertise, if I don't believe the job can be completed to 100% customer satisfaction by Alba Aus we would then recommend a fellow tradie with the resources to quote the job for you, we would only recommend reputable alternatives.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

In order for any quote to be carried out correctly a site visit is required should it be for old for new install works or make over repairs. General service works can usually be quoted with out site visits.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

If your requirements are more than general services always request a sight visit to discus your options, have a few options in mind before the trade person arrives or even better email them, this would allow options to be reviewed via quotes, take time to think about your options, never rush in to a decision and never be rushed.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We believe our hourly rate is very competitive, being a sole trader with Marie in the office we do not have the large overheads other larger businesses have, we discuss our prices daily based on the going rate, based on fuel prices and other daily cost expenses. A large amount of customers prefer a quote or fixed price, we work protectively with our suppliers to provide the best quotes possible.

How do you normally charge for your service?

General service jobs such as hot water service or air conditioning service can be standard set prices, standard back to back air conditioning can be a set price, however for more detailed pricing we recommend a site survey to review full details of what is required to allow a fixed quote to be provided, this stops any unwanted costs for the customer and unwanted unhappy customers for us. It is a no obligation service that protects both parties interest and the job can be carried out with clarity on both sides.

We specialize in the service maintenance and repairs of plumbing, gas and air conditioning this being around 40% of our annual service with install and replacement or new full systems being around 35% and general building services around 25% of our annual book, this changes slightly each year depending on demand and availability.
